Regiment of Foote

Anyone interested in history and/or warfare must, at sometime, have asked themselves what it would be like to take part in a battle and face the test of combat. Our website introduces you to that challenge and the role you could play in Col. Samuel Jones' Regiment of Foote in the Army of Parliament.

Before we start may we please stress that the first aim of our Society, The Sealed Knot, is FUN, meeting friends at camp sites, working together as friends in a team - be it on the battlefield, the campsite or drinking in the beer tent! Families, children, couples and singles are all equally welcome. All re-enactment societies claim to be 'authentic' but many sacrifice historical accuracy and safety to convenience, decoration and downright pose value. We research the books of the Civil Wars to find out how the people lived and fought, then put into practice these teachings from contemporary accounts and military experts of the time. Today this is done, in such a way to minimise the risk of personal injury. Not everyone in our regiment is purely interested in history, some indeed aren't! We aim to enjoy ourselves trying to get it right.
